World Carnivore Month: Day 2
Happy day 2 of World Carnivore Month 2023. Now that we know World Carnivore Month is one month of the Carnivore Diet, the next question is obviously, what is the Carnivore Diet?
What Is The Carnivore Diet?
The carnivore diet is quite simple really. Like any diet it does have a spectrum, but it can be easily summarized as animals good, plants bad. Also referred to as the all-meat diet, the carnivore diet is not only about eating meat in larger quantities, but also equally about the reduction or elimination of plant foods. This means that for breakfast, bacon and eggs are back in and the green juice is out.
Obviously, this sounds quite preposterous and blasphemous to the current mainstream messaging that vegetables are the healthiest things we could be eating. However, there is a growing community of proponents claiming exactly that – the elimination of plants from our diet has the potential to help us achieve incredible health.
What Do You Eat On The Carnivore Diet?
As previously stated, the Carnivore diet is quite simple. In terms of a food list, all meats, eggs, fish, shellfish are on the menu. Dairy is okay if your body tolerates it. Add some salt to season and water to drink, and that’s about it on the official carnivore food list.Â
While you might be thinking that it is incredibly restrictive, a lot of people report that such severe restriction actually provides greater freedom. Gone are the days of meal planning and elaborate recipes that require shopping lists and random ingredients. Instead, it’s as simple as pulling a steak out of the fridge (or freezer) to cook and enjoy.

What Not To Eat On The Carnivore Diet?
In a nutshell, if it comes from a plant, it shouldn’t be eaten on the Carnivore Diet.
There are lots of varying shades of the Carnivore Diet, or degrees of strictness. This is where the diet can get complicated and cause confusion. What about coffee, herbs and spices, a squeeze of lemon in water?
These are common questions and there are countless variations found in nearly every Carnivore Diet support group/community. Technically, the answer is these are plants, don’t eat them. But the reality of what you can eat depends solely on yourself and your personal context.
What is your current health situation? Are you following the Carnivore Diet to heal a chronic disease? Are you in the obese category? If so, you should probably be on a stricter version of the Carnivore Diet.
Are you relatively healthy and close to a healthy weight? You can probably be on a more relaxed version of the Carnivore Diet.
Consider your current health status and your goals when deciding what type of Carnivore Diet to follow.Â
What Are The Different Types Of Carnivore Diet?
As previously mentioned, there are varying degrees of strictness when it comes to the Carnivore Diet. Â
Some people are trying to heal life-long illnesses and need to be on the strictest version possible. Others can be more loose with the guidelines. This can also change with time.
World Carnivore Month is an excellent time for long-term Carnivores who might follow a standard or keto carnivore diet to reset with a month of eating a strict carnivore diet.
